President's Day Rodeo

Last weekend was awesome because Ryan had President's Day off and we enjoyed the rodeo that was going on here in SA. Before I get to that, check out Jaxson -- He insisted on mopping on Saturday during our weekly clean. It was cute to watch him work, although I think he just loved putting the mop in the bucket (not wringing it out) and soaking the floor :)

Ok, now to the Rodeo.... Jaxson the sheep

Looking at baby chicks ... I wanted to hold one so bad!
They had tractors set up everywhere for kids to "ride." Jax thought this was awesome!

Riding the horse and lassoing the sheep

HEB put on an exhibit where the kids learned about nutrition, gathered plastic food in their buckets, and traded it in for a treat (celery sticks) at the end. Jax loved gathering the plastic food, it was hard to get him to only put 1 of each in his basket.

Chickens

Walking around the petting zoo --- slightly chaotic actually. All the animals, parents, and kids were all walking around in this small fenced in area. I was taking a picture of Jaxson and basically got knocked over by this large goat ...

I was too slow getting a picture of Jaxson petting (he was more like slapping the animals this time ... we need to practice petting softly) the pot bellied pig, but I love how his face shows how excited he was!

So you will notice that often times Jaxson has his hand on his head in our photos. It is so hard to get him to look at me when I am taking a photo, so I tell him there is a basketball on my head -- this is the result. At least he is looking right? What handsome twins!

Jaxson trying to feed the baby lamb ... awe

These baby goats were so adorable!

Deer at the petting zoo? I guess so - they had a couple in there.

CHEESE~!

About 5 minutes after taking this photo, I bought cookie dough on a stick (covered in chocolate and coconut) ... YUMMY! It was a fun day at the rodeo :)

The Serengeti Resort

For Christmas, we received a voucher for an animal tour at the Serengeti resort, about 30 minutes north of our house (thanks to ryan's parents!). Last Saturday we drove up and went on our own little safari. We drove around a golf cart and attempted to feed the animals that were there (camel, zebra, deer, giraffe, ostritch, Kudu, etc.) It was so much fun (other than the fact it was 46 degrees outside and we didn't dress quite warm enough...)

Jaxson LOVED driving the golf cart. He has been enjoying the movie "Cars" lately, and has also been playing a driving nintendo-type game. So he thought this was awesome! (check out the movie at the bottom)
The first animal we met was this camel --- He was very gentle and loved the food.
While we were feeding the camel, I looked back and saw this guy. I snapped a quick picture and then went back to taking photos of Ryan and Jaxson feeding the camel. I then felt something bite my back. I literally started screaming (not out of pain, but of suprise and fear). The zebra then bit my jacket and tried to pull me out of the golf cart. I am still screaming and trying to hold on for dear life. I guess this is what they ment when they said "be careful of the zebra and ostrich." I managed to get my jacket back and shew the animal away, while I am yelling to Ryan to drive away. Traumatic .... haha. Once we got away, I was laughing histerically - I got attacked by a zebra! Never thought that would happen to me.

The ostritch ... "don't feed him from your hand" we were told. We would throw the food a ways from the cart, but he kept coming closer and closer, so I would freak out and tell Ryan to drive! I was still scared from the whole zebra incident.

Yaaaa, my favorite, the giraffe.

Jaxson didn't want to look at me long enough to take a picture- too much fun!

Giant Kudu's. Didn't want to try and feed these guys, they looked too dangerous.

The camel is the only one we could feed for most of our trip.

Happy Family

One last attempt to feed the giraffe was a success. YES! I love feeding giraffe's. I had almost the entire bag of food left, so I got to feed him for a while - awesome! Such a cute animal :)

We saw these cute lemur's on the way out.

This is my jacket where the zebra tried to eat me. Dirty mouth!

A quick video of Jaxson driving the cart .... love this kid!

33 weeks

Just an update on the pregnancy ... I am 2 days shy of 33 weeks, and I am still feeling good. My baby is measuring pretty big (90th % -- is already 5 ish lbs). Her head is measuring really big ... yikes! We finally got a profile of this little girl today (she always is hiding and has her hands in front of her face). Can't wait to meet her in just a few short weeks!
